Lighting Up Africa

I've been drawn to Africa since I was a child and received a call to go there in my mid 20's. That's been a few years, but the desire has never dimmed.

In 2020, I went to the Centres for Spiritual Living Kenya conference in Nairobi and while there, received further confirmation that I am meant to go to Kisumu, Kenya. I intend to establish an adult spiritual education center that benefits the local population and eventually start an orphanage and school for children. To that end, I am currently working with several Kenyan friends to establish a society with those goals in mind.

The Kenyan people are so loving and giving, it is amazing to be a part of their community. They are helping me with every step of the process. To start a non-profit society in Kenya will cost around $700. Then, while the cost of living in Kisumu is quite low, roughly $500 per adult per month including rent, it is more for mzungu (white man) and I will have the added expense of starting and operating a school. I estimate my monthly expenses to be roughly $1500 or $18,000 for the first year.

I am starting the process of creating a non-profit organization here in Arizona, as well, though the cost is minimal, roughly $100. I plan to raise more funds in the states by speaking and singing at various churches which will incur some expenses for lodging and food. To offset some of that cost, I am looking for a small camper to travel in. Any help finding an inexpensive camper would be welcomed.

My initial goal is $30,000 which would include startup costs, monthly living expenses for a year, and the remainder toward a camper. I am so thankful for all the support to help me reach my goals and in making the world a brighter place!

Namaste,

Dennis
